CONSIGNMENT ITEM: The artistry of Betty Lou Nichols vases is well known among avid head vase collectors. Flora Bell is one of the prettiest, most popular and clearly the largest of the vases produced by the Betty Lou Nichol's studios. This girl is wearing a very lovely teal green, rose pink and cremey white plaid outfit. She is an outstanding example of some of the finest work of the head vase era. This lovely Flora Belle stands a full 11" tall and makes a gorgeous display piece. She is in MINT condition, everything about her is perfect! Her colours are brilliant and her sunshine blonde hair, with it's long ringletts, is simply striking. Her hat, is amazing featuring a large banded accent ribbon tied in a fabulous dramatic bow. Her eyelashes are long and perfect, her complexion is clear and is punctuated by rose coloured lipstick. The front ruffles of her blouse have a gorgeous texture and are in perfect harmony with her high styling. She is absolutely amazing, free of any chips, cracks, hairlines or repairs. The one pronounced feature on many of the BLN head vases is crazing, and in fact many of them have very heavy crazing in the glaze. This girl is EXCEPTIONAL in that she has only very light clear crazing. Her eyelashes are perfect. She is truly both outstanding, and rare and would make an truly unique addition to even the most discriminating head vase collectors showcase. Her name "Flora-bell" and "Betty Lou Nichols" is clearly marked in glaze on her base.
The Betty Lou Nichols vases are well documented, features in many collector's books. This girl can be found on Page 207 and 208 of Kathleen Cole's Head Vases ID & Values.
